Wow... time really flies when you're not stuck at home, pregnant and unable to move. Ha! Two weeks ago we had our little baby, Jacob Stephen. He was born on February 27, at 11:12 pm, and has been such a little sweetheart. He eats a ton, loves looking around with huge eyes and staring at everything. He also loves his little puppy which I think is adorable. :)
So last Saturday Stephen and I did the Moonlight Run, a 6km race. Now, I know I just had a baby, but still, I was a little disappointed at my time. I completed it in just over an hour... which was, ironically, my exact time for the 10 km race I did last year for the Moonlight Run. Interesting. Stephen, the loyal husband that he is, stuck by me the entire way. We came in second last in both our age categories. The only thing sadder than that is the fact that there were clearly two people our age who were slower, haha. Poor them! Beaten by a just-gave-birth couple. :) That's a little degrading.
Something I learned during the moonlight run was that when people are hollering encouragement at you and you feel pathetic because you're going sooooo s.l.o.w... instead of feeling encouraged, you just feel annoyed. And it made me want to hit them in the face. Or fling my water cup in their direction. I know, they were just being supportive, as Stephen told me repeatedly. But still...
Anyway, in book related news, Tanned finally got a release date! April 10, 2012! I know! So excited! :) It will be available in print and ebook on that date, hurray! And my other book, title still undecided, is also coming along... just very slowly. My wonderful editor, Karen, has sent me back the first round of edits... and I have thought about them, read them, but have not found the time to actually begin writing them. Which, considering it's a book and not, you know, something non-written, is a problem. I keep telling myself that tomorrow I'll do it... but apparently procrastination is my new best friend. But in all seriousness, I do plan on starting the writing part of it soon. Tomorrow. :) I'm looking forward to it. It's another good one!
Well, my little man (and no, it's not Stephen), is wanting attention. So I better go. Have a great day ya'll. I'll try to be more regular on this thing in the future!
xoxo

First of all, congrats on your new son!
ReplyDeleteSecond, I can't believe you and your hubby ran 6k after you gave birth so recently.
Third, where's the pic of the puppy?
Lastly, yes, encouragement can make one aggravated when it is unwanted.
Interesting note on the encouragement thing...I think it's because it comes across as condescending. Your baby is adorable! And I am really not expecting you to get right back into the edits, you overachiever you.
ReplyDeleteStill, thats a pretty good time. Beautiful baby there, born the day before my birthday.
